A 20th century six-panel Japanese screen pair with applied vignettes. The folding screen pair mounted with 16 individual 19th century vignettes including tanzaku, scattered fans and small paintings. Tanzaku are long, thin strips of colored paper used in Japan to write wishes and hang for display. These fans and small paintings depicted various scenes with landscape, figures, animals and flora. The background of each panel has its own color, giving the screen set a diverse finish. Vignettes with multiple styles and ages were beautifully embedded in the modern setting.
